A sale of work in aid of the funds of the Sailors’ Rest and Boys’ Club was opened in the Assembly Rooms this afternoon. The room was nieely arranged by the ladies of the Christian Temperance Union, and the way they carried out this work was very creditable to them. On the left of the large hall upstairs were two large stalls, completely filled with articles of a useful, and 'ornamental kind. Needlework, both plain and fancy, filled a good space on the stalls, and there were numerous knick-knacks that should find a place in room decorations and furnishings. The prices of all articles were most reasonable, and judging by the business done this afternoon there was every indication of a good sale.
