Intelligence from Vladivostok states tha the Japanese Major, Fukuahina, has arrived in that town from Paris, after performing tbe whole journey on horseback through Western Europe, European Russia, Siberia, and Manchuria.

Fifty-six years ago a firm of bankers carrying on business at Aylesbury and Windsor found themselves in financial difficulties and became bankrupts. They and their affairs would long since hate lean forgotten but for the strange fact that tbe final dividend from this much enduring estate was not announced to bo ready for distribution till yesterday. It is in tbe list degree improbable that there is a single creditor s f ill living who bad any claim on tbo £2BOO which have just been set down as tbo balance available- The bankrupts themselves, the judge who dealt with their case when tbe adjudication was made, and all tne officials that were then concerned with it have passed away. This grim spectre of a ease has been haunting at intervals tbe Bankruptcy Court ever since tbe Queen suoeeeded to the throne What has been tbe cost of keeping this case open for fifty-six jears ? It says much tSr the extent and soundness of the assets that this estate should for nearly two generations have been “keptgoing" in the Court which has itself during that time passed through many changes.
