A Dalziei’a telegram from I-f ew York of Jun P 19lh says An extraordnary incident I has arisen in connection with the arrival of the Viking ship at this port. Captain Andersen, the commander of the Viking ship, and five members of the crew, while on their wav home from a reception at Brooklyn on Sunday evening, were attacked by a crowd of roughs. Ihey defended themselves with greet energy and effect until some policemen arrived on the scene, and began using their clubs indiscriminately, thinking the affray was tbo result of a street brawl. They handled Captain Andersen particularly roughly, and pieced him and bis men under arrest. They were admitted to bail early next morning, and appaared before the magistrate at eight o clock. The magistrate refused to call the case at onoo as requested, but kept the ° a i P u n ™. hl - 8 men in a lar S 0 corridor cell in which fifty prisoners were packed. Ho stifling was the place, that one of them fainted and had to he carried- out. The magistrate eventually adjourned the case for & week refusing to hear it at an earlier date on the ground that one of the policemen who mad® the arrest was taking his vacation, and would not return until JMonday next. Meanwhile Captain Anderson, who k anxious to proceed without delay to Chicago, is in a state of great perplexity as to the course he ought to pursue, in the circumstances.
