FOOTBALL.
The secretary of the South Canterbury Bugby Union received a letter from North Otago, on last Saturday, inquiring if South Canterbury would be able to play the annual fixture, North Otago v. South Canterbury, on some date approximately to August 31st. As there is nothing to binder tbe match that date will probably be fixed. The match is to be played at Timaru. iho following will play for the Town Juniors v. Country Juniors on Thursday next Full-back, Gerity ; threequarters, 8. Anderson, Shrimpton, Johnstone ; halves, Stone, T. Anderson ; forwards, J. Fox, Stephen, Penrose, Peattie, Bright, Truman, Mechen, McKenzie, and Rutherford. Emergencies, Bice, Creamer, Philp, Stapelton. The colours of the town team will be yellow and black. The following will play for the Union first v, Waihi first at Winchester on Thursday next: —Full back—Hobbs; threequarters— Heron, Macintosh, and P. Fox; halves — Murdoch and Helan; forwards—-Gardner, Qtraohan, Barnes, Thompson (2), Passmore, Worsley, fehewan, Gaffney j emergencies— S. Anderson, Bbrimpton, Stephen.
