The weather was fine, but the wicket heavy from recent rains. In the first innings the Australians made 144 and Middlesex 78. The Australians went in again at the close of the day, and ran up 144 for the loot of three wickets, so that they now have a lead of 213, with seven wickets to fall. Lyons made 51, Giffen 14, Trott 52 not out, Trumble 24 not out, Lyons hit grandly. very freely off the rather weak Middlesex bowling. The 141 were put up in 92 minutes.
