STAB V. TIMABU THIBD. Great interest was taken in the match Star y. Timaru 3rd as was shown by the large attendance on the Stars’ ground yesterday afternoon, among whom there were many ladies. r J he match, like the first one, ended in a draw, neitber side scoring. The plucki* ness of the (star in playing saeh an Uphill game against a heavy team was frequently applauded, and their defence when a score seemed imminent from tbe opposing side was excellent. Tbe Timarn team bad the best of tbe game nearly all through, and in the second spell (heir forwards gave the Star a merry time. Time after time tbe Star’s line was menaced, but they cleverly held their own. Timaru excelled in passing, but what little ground was gained in this way was equalised by the Stars' forward rushes and the good tackling of the backs. For the Timaru team Bhappere, M. Buchanan, Me* Guinness, Bilton, and Johnston (backs), and Irwin, MoKenaie, Fhilp, Mahan, Worry, and Macintosh (forwards) played well j and for tbe Star Hill, Oborn, Straohan, Falgar, and Newton (backs), and Home (2), Larkin, Thomson, Gilchrist, and Lane (forwards), played well. Mr J. Hclan acted efficiently as referee.
