All England had lost 8 wickets in their second innings, for 234 runs, when rain came on and put a stop to the play, and the match has been abandoned. Shrewsbury increased his score to 81, and Gunn his to 77. Gregory was severely bruised by Mold when batting, and was unable to field. Walter Giffen took his place. Gunn played a stylish innings, but gave several chances, and was eventually .disposed of by a splendid catch. Shrewsbury was at (he tickets 3£ hours for his runs.
