THE STILL CONSPIRACY.
(By Teleoeayh.)
DUNEDIN, July 10,
The appearance in court of Waters and Elliott, charged with conspiracy in connection with the still case, attracted a large attendance of the public. The case against Donnelly was first called, but adjourned until the other
cases had been dealt with. Adam Elliott, alias Stewart, was charged with having an unlawful interest in an unlicensed still, but as his counsel was not prepared, to go on, it was agreed to take evidence in the indictable case. Mr Haggitt, the Crown Proseeuto’r, stated that it was important that this charge should be heard before the conspiracy case. Waters and Elliott were then charged with conspiracy, and after some evidence had been taken, the cases were ad,burned for a week.
