The Freeman's Journal states that the Times proprietor vainly offered Sheridan, —who is alleged to have negotiated the supposed Kilmainham treaty between Gladstonites and Parnell, by which the imprisoned Irish members obtained their liberty—the sum of £IO,OOO to give faithful testimony before the Tim&s-Parhell Commission.
