For Chatham Islands, per Kahn, on Wednesday, 2nd Jan., at 2.30 p.m. "For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Taka puna, on Wednesday, 2nd January, at 6 a.m. For Northern Ports and Sydney, per Wairarapa, on Friday, 4th Jan., at 6 a.m. For the United Kingdom and Australian Colonies, per Rotomahana, on Thursday, 3rd Jan., at 4 p.m. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Rotorua, on Saturday, sth Jan., 2.30 p.m. The s.s. Stella leaves the Bluff for West Coast Sounds, on Tuesday, Ist January, 1889. The s.s. Nile will leave Westport for Karamoa, on 6th prox.
Tuesday, Ist January (New Tear’s Day) the post offipe will be closed. Mails usually despatched on Tuesday will be made up the preceding _ night at Bp.m.,,at which time a delivery will be made over the counter from 8 to 9 p.m. The Telegraph Office will be open’ from 9to 10 a.m. and 7to 8 p.m. The Tele-! phone Exchange will be open as usual. On and after Dec. 31st, 1888, the mails for Mackenzie Country will be despatched on Mondays and Thursdays, at 3 30 p.m., viz., Burke’s Pass, Lake Tekapo, and Fnkaki Ferry. Signed) Ed.
