A TOUGH TALE FROM TEXAS.

A remarkable discovery—too remarkable, wo are afraid to be true, seeing the scene is in America—has been made in Texas. Mr A. W. Taylor thus writes to a paper published in a place called Lampasas “ A very singular discovery was made on the dribble ranche, located on the road between this place and your city. Mr Robert dribble, of the ranche was rounding up a bunch of cattle, and upon entering a secluded spot about 100 yards from the road, he suddenly came upon what once had been an elegant carriage ; it was under a large tree, and was probably driven there for shelter from a storm. Tho tree was shattered by tho lightning, ns was also a part of the carriage, within the closed curtains of which were found tho remains of three grown persons anda little girl, all sitting bolt upright on the seats as if in life ; on the front seat was the driver and a little boy. At least two or three years must have elapsed since they met their singular fate, as their bodies are dried up, and resemble in appearance so many mummies, the skeletons of the horses remain, the tires of the wheels are rusty and loose, and the leather top weatherworn and faded. A small travelling trunk contains a lot of clothing and travellers outfit also letters addressed to James Gr. Chamberlain, London, England. It is presumed they were tourists from Ragland, who were journeying in their private conveyance when tho Angel of Death arrested them in their career, and turned their fine equipage into their temporary tomb." Six people, several horses one carriage, and one tree —A pretty good haul at one stroke 1 The lightning ought to strike the man who tried to cram that letter down the throats of tho public, and then the tale would bo complete.
