PORT ALBERT.

We have been experiencing wretched weather during the past week it bein^r very wet and muddy underfoot. The roads are in a bad state due no doubt to th« amount of heavy traffic over the roads the last week or so. The service cars have increased in number, there now being about half a dozen up and down a day between Auckland and Whangarei, and these, together with the ordinary traffic help no doubt to make the roads pretty rough.. HOCKEY DANCE. The Port Albert Hockey Clubs (ladies and men's) turned on a dance last Thursday night in the loialhall at which there was a good crowd The music for tha dancing was supplied by the "Harmony Four," under the cap able direction of Mr* H \V. Busbridge who had associated with her the f>l lowing instrumentalists — Miss Dile (violin) Messrs Lin. Smith (banjo and steel guitar) and H. Stone (cornet).
