RODNEY GOLF CLUB.

President v. Vice President.

On Saturday afternoon keen interest was taken iv the match played.,between teams selected by the president (Mr Verry) and the vice president (Mr* L. R. Civil), and a large number of players took part. The result was a fairly comfortable win for Mr Civil's team by 9£ mutches to s£. Amongst the ladies divisiou, Mr Civil's team won 7 of the 8 matches played, which clearly demonstrates this worthy vice president's ability to choose ladies with winning ways. The president had a stronger following amongst the menand won 4£ to 2£ matches. The following are the results :—Mrs Fleet 0, played Mrs Smythemau 1; Mrs VVarin 0, played Mrs Hoysted I ; Miss Steven sou 0, played Miss Hebden 1 ; Mrs Rees 0, played Miss Jackson 1 ; Mrs Oarran 0, played Miss Cook I; Mrs B. Stevenson 1, played Miss Gram 0; Miss Guy 0, played Miss Peglar 1.; Mrs B. Phillips 6, Miss Verry 1; L. J. Verry £, played BjOuniberworth £ ; S. Morris'on 1, played D. Speedy 0 ; E. L. Rees 1, played R. B. Hart 0 ; F. Brown 0, played L. R. Civil 1 ; J. P. Smytheman 1, played V. W. Holden 0; E. Cook 0, played A. Hoysted 1; R. Smith 1, played A. V. Fleet 0. Members of the Club, and a number of frieuds, were the guests of Mrs Verry at afternoon tea aud full justice was done to the many good things provided. Mr R. B. Hart, club captain, expressed the appreciation of the golfers for Mrs Verry's generous hospitality, and for the president's iuterest in the welfare of the Club. The hearty cheers given caused one good house-wife who lives nearly half a mile away, to ask "who played such a good shot to cause all that cheering I Mr Verry returned thanks for the kind thiugs said. Handicap Tournament. This tournament has now reached a very interesting stage, aud full details of results will be published next week.
