RODNEY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Eodney Agricultural Society was held in.the Oddfellows' Hall, Warkworth, last Saturday evening, the president, Mr A. Eoke, presiding over a good attendance of members.

The president in bis annual report referred to the results of the last Show, stating that the financial stringency amongst the farming community, due to depressed markets, and the news of the Hawke's Bay Earthquake were no doubt responsible for the reduced number of exhibitors, and the drop in attendance. However, he was pleased to report that the Show was a success and that a small profit was made, which, with an added donation from the Society, has been forwarded to the Treasury to be credited to the Earthquake Belief Fund. He also paid a tribute to the co operative spirit displayed by all members of the Society and the good work dove by the Ladies' Committee. *

After the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the election of officers for the ensuing year wa**proceeded wilh and resulted us follows : — Patron, the member for Marsdan ; president, Mr L A. Petheiick; vice president, Mr Harold G. Edwards; chairman, Mr J. N. Smith; deputy chiiiiman, Alr-Chas. Annett; auditor, Mr J. P. Smytheman ; secretary, Mr E. A. Cook.

During the past year the Society has spent £114 on improvements to the buildings aud givunds aud has redeemed outstanding debentures amounting to £67. The Society has maiLtained its sound financial position. Its assets, exclusive of land Valuation are estimated at £362, including monies on fixed deposit and current account, whilst its liabilities are:nil. /
