RECTIFIED.

A reporter of a provincial journal was sent to interview an old soldier, who, after an especially heroic career, had retired on a pension.

The journalist, anxious to iippress his editor, wrote up a glowing account of the bravery of the "battle-scarred hero."

Unfortunately, owing to a printer's error, this appeared as the "battlescared hero."

The old fellow angrily demanded an explanation from the editor, who promised that the mistake should be rectified in the next issue, but the warrior's rage and astonishment can be better imagined than described when the second time he saw himself termed the "bottle-scarred hero."
