WHAT PEOPLE OF ALL PARTS ARE SAYING.
That Shows are still the topic from Maungaturoto down.
That Maungaturoto sports are inviting people from these parts to have a good time at their shivoo. on March 17.
That it is good for people of adjoining districts to mingle together occasionally, and exchange views.
That the bigger the function the more likelihood of attracting outsiders, and from further afield.
That that should always be borne in mind in arranging local affairs. '
That some authorities believe that prices of farm produce of all kinds will drop after the war closes.
That they quote the close of the South African War as affording proof of their contention.
That nevertheless it may not be so, for conditions will be very different; at the same time, without encouraging pessimism, it is wise to give proper thought to the future, and exercise all the care that is necessary.
That there should be no thoughtless speculation in dear»lands, or there may be lamentation for many years.
That those who want to buy land should look out for places where fictitious values do not rule.
That those who want to sell should be guided accordingly, and realise quickly the fact that a moderate price may create -business, whereas an unduly big one will cause them to hold for perhaps many years.
That there should be no delayin experimenting with various kinds of road construction, in order to fix upon the best.
That when the War is over, there should be an influx of new settlers to New Zealand, and many of them will come to the sunny North.
That every visitor, to the district agrees as to the opportunities in all parts of it.
That all should join in a general boost up, sinking personal and local differences in an effort for the advancement of the whole countryside.*.
That the middleman has had the best of the soft fruit business this season, though at present he is not doing as well as previously.
That some peaches will be dug out as well as plums.
That occasionally " stores" must be quite surprised to hear themselves described as "beef."
That wet season or dry season, apples and pears do well in this district; a clear indication to the man desirous of going into fruit- ., growing that there cannot possibly be any other part of New Zealand to surpass it.
That picnic fishing parties are now doing much better, and there will probably be a general commissioning of motor-launches for these excursions.
