The following is from a".Herald " report of a meeting of the Waitemata County Council, and appears to indicate some misunderstanding:— "In regard to the Eodney County Council's proposal to move the present swing bridge over the JPuhoi River about a mile up the stream, the engineer explained that the proposed alteration would lengthen the main East Cod;st Eoad to the. North by about two miles, and the «nly reason for so doing was to avoid opening the bridge twice a week to allow steamers to pass through. Objections were raised to interfering with the proposals of an adjoining County Council, and it was also stated that this was a case calling for the, earnest consideration of the Council before coming to a decision. The Council decided to reply to the effect that it disapproved^ of. the proposal."
