CENSORSHIP OF FILMS.

REGULATIONS TO-BE GAZETTED.

Per Press Association, Dunedin, Sept. 12.

The Hon. Mr Russell states that the regulations regarding State censorship of Kinema films have been completed and will be gazetted next week. A Board of Appeal will be established, consisting of three persons, who will be appointed shortly. A majority of two will decide any point in appeal of orders against censorship or their films. The regulations provide for the following fees: First, for examination by censor, a fee of 5s for first thousand feet or portion thereof; second, 2s (id for every 500 ft. after the, first thonsand; third, the same fee to be charged for re-examination of censored films after excision by owners on censor’s instructions; fourth, on appeal there will be a tee of 10s per 1000 feet with a minimum charge of 80s for each film. The Act provides that all films must be submitted for censoring after October Ist, but in order to avoid hardship and confusion, films on circuit at that time will not be called up unless there is a complaint against them.
