GREAT AEROPLANE ACTIVITY.

ENEMY TRENCHES ENTERED.

London, Sept. 10.

Sir Douglas Haig reports: The enemy at midday counter-attacked north of Ginchy but were repulsed. Many aerial combats took place. We destroyed three German machines and brought down others damaged. We entered enemy trendies at Neuve Chapelle and inflicted severe casualties.

Paris, Sept. 11

A communique says: Germans south of the Somme twice attacked south-west of Berny. They met with a complete check. Aeroplanes flew over the enemy lines. There were forty combats on Saturday, the German air ’fleet suffering considerable losses. Five machines were wrecked.

An air squadron dropped 480 bombs on the railway station and depot at Chauny. Eighteen aeroplanes dropped numerous shells on military establishments at Ham, south of Peronne. Many fires were seen.
