Holman, interviewed, detailed the far-reaching consequences of the New South Wales Act regarding strikes and look-onts, as already productive of good results in securing the prompt settlement of disputes. He added that whatever the facts of the Sydney gas strike, they would not affect the Act, the provisions whereof would doubtless he enforced when the necessity arises. The Hon. Holman favoured compulsory militarry training, arguing that even two or three Dreadnoughts were insufficient to protect a vast territory. The party’s next work would be the freeing of the .land for the people. New South Wales’ one need was population. This was not securahle until the Government regained control of the resources.
