THE BARE MAJORITY.
Per Press Association. Nelson, March 6. Mrs Cole, president of the W.0.T.U., in delivering an address, dealt at considerable length with the aims and objects of the organisation. Referring to the liquor traffic she said philanthropists, politicians, and to gome extent the churches,{[seemed satisfied to apply a lotion here and a poultice there when the nation was suffering from a malignant growth needing the surgeon’s knife. Members were urged to support and pledge themselves to a campaign £i’or a bare majority. In conclusion, she said “We fight to protect all nearest and dearest#© us and defy any man, be he publican or brewer, to dare to say that a mother has no right to fight for her own.”
