LOCAL BODIES LOANS.
PROPER STAND BY PREMIER. Per Press Association. Auckland, November 27.The Premier, replying to a deputation from several suburban bodies on the subject of loans to local bodies, said Government did not intend to lose anything in granting the loans It was unfair to ask the general taxpayer to make up sucn a v deficiency. In the next few years Government had to arrange for the conversion and renewal of 15 or 16 million pounds of debentures, a great deal of which was raised ih London, and until these arrangements are made it is quite impossible to say what could be done for suburban local bodies. He proposed to remove the £SOOO ' limitation at the earliest possible moment, but-it could not be yet. .'
