A wireless message has been received that the Aurora has left the Macquaries, and is due here on December 15th. Shejafterwards returns to bring back the expedition. An important discovery was made during the voyage down, tending to confirm the theory of former land connection between Tasmania and Antarctica. When 200 miles south the showed a rooky ridge at a depth of 700 fathoms, extending almost due North and South. The present charts show 1500 to 2000 fathoms over this area. Possibly Captain Diedriche, the Norwegian whaler, at Spresent in New Zealand, will superintend the Aurora’s whaling operations.
