A VANISHED LADY
SUICIDE OF A SEARCHER, United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received November 28, 10 a.m. London, November 37. Mrs Sydney Nowill, wife of a Sheffield manufacturer, mysteriously disappeared from a fashionable hotel in Now Quay. James Delany, a retired Singapore solicitor, residing in the same hotel, after narticipafcing in the search became distraught and committed suicide. A codicil to Delany’s will left Mrs Nowill a considerable sum. Evidence at the inquest on Delany indicated only friendliness between deceased and Mrs Nowill. During the search for Mrs Nowill Delany [seized a coastguard lieutenant, remarking “I will throw you over the cliff too.” He then suddenly apologised to the officer who warned the police to watch Delany. A verdict of felo de se was returned.
