population of the Commonwealth at the.end of last year was 43,75,304, an increase for the year of 78,307. The Commonwealth population returns show Victoria’s increase for teh year was 23,079, New South Wales 32,780, South Australia 14,615, Queensland 10,580, Westralia 5,547, and Tasmania 1816. Males outnumbers females by 228,744. Victoria is the only State, with more women than men.
