APITI NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Wednesday evening, a valedictory social was tendered to Mr aud lvlrs S. Pronse, who arc leaving the district. During their eight years’ residence here they made many friends, as was evinced by the large and representative gathering present. A lengthy programme of vocal and instrumental items was gone through, after which, Mrs Stewart on behalf of the residents and settlers, presented Mr and Mrs Prouse with a handsome silver tea service. Their nephew, Mr G. Little was also made the recipient of a shaving outfit. Mrs Prouse made a capital iiitie speech, in which she thanked the people for their kindness and presentation. Mr Prouse has taken up another farm at Rangiwahia. ■
Numerous entries are anticipated for the coming show. Although exhibits will not be up to the usual standard, owing to the recent dry weather, late rains have made a marked improvement in vegetables and root crops. Owing to the satisfactory supply of milk coming forth, the Co-op. Dairy Company hope to receive supplies till the end of April.
