WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETINGS There were less members than; usual. at the May meeting of the- Arapuni- -branch of the Women’s - Institute, as a number of members-were on holiday. The roll call for th e month;was: “Some-, good recipes to start, our cookery book.” The Best bloom: competition was won by Mrs O’Gonnor and the social competition by Mr s Worrel. A competition- forr a peg bag made from' au sugar b'ag • was won by Mrs O’Connor, Mrs Sewell gaining second place. Mrs-; Dustan’s golden thread talk of Mother Shipton’g- Prophecies was very much enjoyed Mrs Longgave a very-clear report of the Matamata conference A happy afternoon was brought to a close by the serving of afternoon tea by the hostesses. Mesdames ■ Smith and O’Connor. The Jum° Mefefilng - The. June meeting was presided, over by Mrs Long, and there was a. very good attendance. The singing of “God Defend New Zealand” and | the reciting of the creed opened the 1 meeting:. i The roll call was: “The uses of , lemon.” This- brought forward many useful hints. The savoury competition was won by Mrs Eves. Mrs Robertson gaining second place. The best bloom comps- , tition was won by Mrs Heslop.
