Mr. and Mrs. Ensor, of Thames, parents of Mr. G. Ensor, are on a visit to Putaruru. Miss E. Warren, of Wellington, who has been on a holiday to Putaruru as the guest of Mrs. W. Brown left on Monday for Hastings. Mr. Gordon Brown left this week for a holiday visit to Hastings. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Hewitt, of Auckland, were visitors to Putaruru last week. Mr. C. G. Alcorn visited Putaruru this week. Mrs. J. Murphy and family are on holiday at Waihi beach. Friends will be pleased to learn that Miss R. Strugnell’s health is on the improve. Miss Strugnell has been indisposed for over a week. Miss A. Haslett, who has been the guest of Mrs. H. B. Coupe, left for her home in Auckland yesterday. Mrs. J. J. Shine is on a visit to her sister, Mrs. C. G. Alcorn, at Devonport. Morrinsville Mrs. M. Robison, of Tauhei, has returned from visiting Auckland. Mrs. W. Scott, of Mangateparu, is visiting Auckland. Miss V. Brayshaw is visiting Auckland. Miss J. Gummer has returned from a visit to Auckland. Miss M. Wilson, of Kurunui, is on a visit to Taranaki. Mrs. T. R. Bennett, of Mangateparu, is visiting Auckland. Miss Druce, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Hodges, of Thames street.

Mrs. Yorich and Miss Yorich, of Christchurch, have been staying with Mrs. W. Green, of Park street. Mr. and Mrs E.. W. Seville, of Opotiki, are the guests of Mrs. G. E. Seville, of Thames street. Miss Waite, of Auckland, is staying with Miss I. Campbell, of George street. Mrs. Blythe, of Wanganui, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Johnston, of Mangateparu. Miss S. Cornish is spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. S. H. G. Cornish, of Thames street. Miss M. Cunnold, of Auckland, is staying with her sister, Mrs. T. H. Wilson, of Allen street. Miss H. Douglas, of Hamilton road, has returned from a visit to Auckland, where she attended the Bledisloe S.P.C.A. ball held in the Town Hall. Matamata. Miss E. Waite, of Christchurch, is spending the school vacation at her home in Matamata. Miss G. Heerdegen, of Otaika, Whangarei, who has been spending a few days at her home in Matamata, has left for Helensville. COOKERY NOOK. Cornflake Kisses.—ilb butter, ilb sugar, 1 egg, 1 large cup flour, 1 level teaspoon salt, 1 cup dates, i cup broken walnuts, 1 level teaspoon baking powder, cornflakes. Method: Sieve the flour, powder and salt, and rub in butter. Add sugar, egg, dates and broken walnuts, and then mix. Quantities of one teaspoon of mixture to be rolled in cornflakes, bake in a slow oven.
