CAPTAIN AMUNDSEN’S CONVICTION. Montreal, Feb. 25. Captain Amundsen denies- the possibility of. Captain Scott and his comrades starving to death. He says there must have been scurvy or ptomaine poisoning due to bad food. WELCOMED AT SYDNEY. Sydney, Feb. 25. The Scott expedition survivors were welcomed by Professor David and others. They stated that they had nothing to add to the details already given in New Zealand. CHRISTCHURCH MEMORIAL. Christchurch, Feb. 25. At a small public meeting yesterday a committee was set up to promote a national New Zealand memorial to Captain Scott and his companions. Some £4O was subscribed in the room. SUCCESSFUL THEATRICAL CARNIVAL Christchurch, Feb. 25. The theatrical carnival organised by the Williamson Comic Opera Company in aid Captain Scott national fund, held at Lancaster Park yesterday afternoon, was largely attended, and produced a profit of £454.
