Sale of Dairy Herds

The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report holding a sale of dairy cows at their Havelock Suburban yards yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance,-and all lines showing quality were disposed of at figures well up to owners’ expectations. The prospects o£ the approaching season and the excellent results anticipated by factory suppliers induced some owners to hold for prices above, buyers’ limits, and out of a full yarding some 16 head were passed in. They report sales at following prices;—Milkers, due September October to third calf, £6 to £8; due to fourth calf, £6 to £8 8s ; due to fifth calf, £6 io £7 ; half Jerseys, due to, fifth and sixth calves, £6 15s to £8 5s ; cow in calf, £5 15s ; springing heifers, £6 10s ; heifers in calf, £4 10s ; aged cows, in calf, £2.
