DESCRIBED.
An eminent professor, describing the journey of life, says : 'Ten thousand human beings start together on their journey. After ten years one-third of them at least have disappeared. At the middle points of the common measure of life, but half are still upon the road. Faster nnd faster as the ranks grow thinner, they that remain till now become weary. At three score and ten, a band of some four hundred still struggle on.' At ninety these have been reduced to a mere handful, who, year after year, fall in diminishing numbers. One lingers, perhaps, a lonely mar> vel. till the century is over, We look again, and tho journey of life is finished." (1585.)
The eyes of the hare are never closed, as it has no eyelids. Wedding-rings were worn by both Jews and Romans at dates iong prior to the Christian era.
