A GUINEA A DROP.
The talk about the sale of the lakes of Killarney, of which so much has been in the papers lately, gives point to a story of Bir Eobert Finlay, M.P., the eminent Queen’s Counsel and SolicitorGeneral. Travelling In Ireland a few years ago, Sir Robert stopped a man driving cattle to a fair, “ Where are you going ?” asked the famous lawyer, and the drover informed him that he was taking his cattle to Waterford fair. “ Indeed ?” exclaimed Sir Robert, “ and how much do you expect to get for your beasts ?" “ Shure, came the reply. •• an’ av I get £8 the head X shall not do badly,” said Pat. “ All, that’s a sample of your country.” retorted Bir Robert. “ Take the beasts to England and you will get £l4 a head.” ” Just so, yer banner,” replied the drover quietly; “ and av yez were to take the lakes o’ Killarney to purgatory yez would get a guinea a drop!”
