Rifle Club.
A meeting was held at th? Masonic Hotel on Saturday evening for the purpose of taking steps'towards forming a Rifle Club in this district, at which there was a fair attendance.
Mr Mathieson occupied the chair, and explained at some length the advantages to be derived from such a Club.
It was unanimously decided to form a Club, and the names of twenty parsons willing to become members were handed in. It was decided to apply to the Government as to the price at which" thsy would supply Martini-Henri rifbs and ammunition to the Club.
The Chairman stated that two settlers hi the district had promised the use of their land for a range if suitable ground could be found.
The meeting then adjourned till Saturday evening next, when the election of officers and other important business will bs undertaken
