RECOGNITION OF BRAVERY. Wellington, January 29. Ths Government has decided to call for designs for gold, silver, and bronze medals, and also for certificates for the official racog* nition of deeds of bravery and heroic conduct in saving life. OUR SCENERY. Wellington, January 29. The Government has now under consideration the question of obtaining the necessary general legislation for the preservation of the scenery in different parts of the Colony, and more particularly the scenery of the Makuri Gorge, the Otiri Gorge, the Buller Gorge, the Ru Valley, and round the lakes in the South Island.
