AUSTRALIAN.
POISONING CASE, Sydney, June 8
A number of aboriginals at Fernmount drunk a bottle of poisonious liquid, supplied by a man named John Kelly, in the belief that it was gin. Two of the number have since died, and four others are in a dangerous condition. Kelly has since been arrested.
June 9. Three more of the aboriginals at Mount Fern, who drank the decoction supplied to them by a man named Kelly, in mistake for rum, have succumbed, make five victims in all. At the inquest Kelly gave evidence that he obtained a bottle from a certain shop (he was intoxicated at the time), and, believing the contents to be rum, drank some himself, and gave the blacks a drink. He himself suffered severely from what he had drank. SERIOUS FIRE. Sydney, June 8. fhe extensive railway engine sheds at Harden, on the great Southern Railway line, has been destroyed by fire. There were several engines in the shed at the time. The damage is estimated at £2,000. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN LOAN. ■ Adelaide, June 8. The new local loan of /3ii,000, at 3J per cent, issued at par, has been floated with great success. The amount entered was £719,000.
