Kaituna Valley.
(By Wanderer)
The settlers all through this Valley are steadily making improvements, and before many years have pasted away they will have some nice flockg ot sheep, for both country and climate suit them. Mrs Reader, who has the first farm opened in the Valley, and her sons, Mr Harry Reader and Mr Herbert Reader, have each a good block of bush felled ready for burning this season. The hoggets grown on this hill country averaged 6|lbs of wool this shearing, which is a most satifactory result. Mr Tee comes next with a compact homestead and nice orchard, but the holding is hardly sufficient for a man of his capacity. Adjoining this we find Messrs Wheadons, who have a heavy task before j them, as the fern is so prolific among i logs and fallen timber it will take a long time to eradicate it. On the opposite side of the road we find Mr Robert Brownlee, who has found a lot of work to do, and does it, so that he is rapidly converting a discouraging looking valley of blackened stumps and logs jnto a thriving hpinestead, while the neat cottage and outbuildings with the nice paddocks and substantial fencing in front give an air of prosperity to the surroundings. Mr §waf? ford join? this property, and hereto have a patent of whafc economy and Ifcjjrj|t do on small holdings; year after year as he perser vered, bringing up a large family, and little by little getting the land into cultivation, until the whola of it will soon be in permanent pasture. On the other side of the Valley we find Mr Evan Jones, who has built a nioa comfortable house, and now has a plough under way on a portion of the land with a nice little crop in progpectj here, also, the bushman'a axe has been heard to ring early and late, and what was at one time a roughlooking gully will very soon be quite a smiling farm.
