Home Rule Meeting,

(own correspondent.) Napier, Friday. A large and influential meeting was held here last night, when resolutions were unanimously adopted in favor of Mr Gladstone’s efforts in aid of Home Rule for Ireland. A copy of the congratulatory resolutions were cabled to Mr Gladstone this morning, as follows : • —•“ Napier, N.Z.—To Gladstone, London. —Large representative meeting expressing deep sympathy with your noble efforts for home rule. God speed.— G. H. Swan, Mayor.” The principal resolution congratulated Mr Gladstone on h-s change of front, and on his earnest effort to give Ireland home rule. The meeting was very hurriedly got up. bnt was a most successful one. "“here was some talk of a counter cable, but it fell flat. Telegrams of sympathy were read from Messrs Stout, Grey, Ballance, Ormond, Smith, G. N. Wilson, and others. Mr Locke, M.H.R., moved the chief resolution.
