CABLE NEWS. (own correspondent.) London, Oct 13. The Right Hon. Hugh Eardley Childers (Chancellor of the Exchequer in the late Government) addressed a meeting of his late constituents at Pontefract last night. Referring to colonial questions, he stated that he hailed with pleasure and approval the proposals for federation, and he expressed a hope that the forthcoming Indian and Colonial Exhibition would facilitate the discussion of the matter byleading colonists.
