The Hutt Tarring Case.

(OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, Monday. Sydney Muir, the prosecutor in the tarring case, was arrested on Friday on a charge of stealing two gold rings, a photograph, and a book entitled “ Policy and Passion,” the property of the Hon. Mr Buckley. The accused was at once taken before the R.M., and admitted that he had a ring in his possession belonging to Mrs Buckley. The fact, he said, was he picked the ring up one day and asked Mrs Buckley whose it was. She replied it belonged to Mr Buckley, whereupon he (Muir) laughingly remarked that he would wear it until Mr Buckley asked him for it. The case was remanded until Tuesday, bail being allowed in one surety of /"a;, and prisoner's own recognisance of £io.
