CABLE NEWS. (own correspondent.) London, July 26. The liquidators in the Oriental Bank propose to pay a further dividend of 7s in the £. Most of the creditors are accepting 17s in the £ as settlement in full. A day has been set apart in the United States for national mourning on account of the death of General Grant. The body has been embalmed, and is lying in state. It will be inferred in New York on August 8. In the House of Lords, Earl Granville stated that he considered Lord Salisbury’s treatment of the Afghan difficulty and Egyptian finances, entitled him to the support of the Liberals.
