A message from Paris states that despite denials published in Warsaw, it is learned from most reliable and authoritative sources that Germany gave Poland secret but formal assurances renouncing all claims to Danz.g in exchange for a refusal by Poland to join the French, British and Russian front. It also is declared that Germany assured Poland that she had ■no designs on the Polish Corridor. A message from Teschen states that students and others joined in a meeting of Polish housewives and formed a procession of 14.000 people, who marched in the main street chanting slogans and flying banners emblazoned: “Poland is not Czechoslovakia and Danzig is not Memcl.” A further report which .has reached Paris is that the Swiss authorities have learned that 700,000 German troops are massing on the Swiss border. This is said to be the reason lor Switzerland calling up several classes of reserves.

A Tokio message says it is understood that Japan has offered the return of the Caroline Islands to Germany as a gesture, but only until Herr Hitler achieves his colonial ambitions.
