WAIKOHU COUNTY FINANCE DEBIT EXPECTED (Special to the Herald.) TE KARAKA, this day. “We are in the worst position we have been in for the last 18 or 19 years,’ said tlie county clerk, Mr. J. G. Appleton, at to-day’s meeting of the Waikohu County Council, when, he mentioned the financial position of the council. Mr. Appleton stated that the council had spent £62,000 and received £47,000. At the commencement of tiie year the council had a credit balance of about £6BOO, and some Government grants and highways subsidies were expected before the end of the month, but lie estimated that the council would be left with a debit of £2OOO or £3OOO at tlie bank. He added that the rate collections had been better than for many years.
