BOXING AT AUCKLAND

JOHNSON BEATS CALTAUX H. SUMMERS IMPRESSES DEFEAT ‘OF BRIAN MeKAY (Per Pros.s Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Auckland Boxing Association commenced its 1939 season last night when two professional matches were staged in addition to three amateur contests. The first professional bout was a welterweight contest between Don Johnson and Vic Caltaux, both of Auckland, and it was won by Johnson on points at the end of 10 three-minute rounds. In the second professional match, Harry Summers, an Australian lightweight. made his first appearance in New Zealand and he created a very favourable impression by decisively defeating Brian McKay, of Auckland.
