RYEGRASS HARVEST
HAWKE’S BAY FIGURES Work on the ryegress harvest in Hawke’s Bay is proceeding apace. The loss of harvested crops as a result of the gales toward the end of January was not as great as was at first expected, and it seems likely that the total harvest will yield a greater quantity of seed than last year. Until February 25 a total of 104 paddocks had been machine-dressed, the area representing 1083 acres. From this acreage 4656 sacks went into the machines and 2246 sacks machinedressed out. The total number of bushels to go into the machines was 27,968 and the number to dress out was 17,360 bushels.
