LOST FROM STEAMER
SEAMAN DISAPPEARS FORMER AUCKLAND MAN The disappearance ol' nn able seaman, Mr. If. M. Scnllay, from the Westport Coal Company’s chartered steamer Kaimai after clearing Westport on Tuesday for Auckland, was reported on the arrival of tire ship at Auckland on Saturday morning. Mystery attaches to the loss of the seaman and no suggestion has been offered as a reason for his disappearance. The Ivannai cleared, the Westport bar at 5.15 on Tuesday afternoon and about an hour later the absence ol Mr. Scoilay was noticed. A thorough search of the ship was made without result and the Kaimai was put about to steer over her outward course. She continued inshore toward the bar, but no sign was found, gathering darkness hampering the search. Mr. Scollay’s last residence was at an Auckland boarding house.
