SYDNEY, Jan. 4.
-A fierce fire, fed by stocks of matches and paper and tons of chlorate of potash, damaged two factories and workshops at Waterloo .suburb yesterday. The fire started in the premises of Phillip and Son, printers and bookbinders, and spread to a match factory, and severely damaged the contents of two shops. Explosions were frequent during the blaze, scores of windows in houses being smashed. The firemen had miraculous escapes from falling walls and flying debris. The damage is estimated at £50,000.
