LEG AND ARM BROKEN
I YOUNG MAN'S ILL-LUCK TOKOMARU BAY ACCIDENT CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE (Special to the Herald.) TOKOMARU BAY. this day. To have a leg and arm broken in a motor collision when he had everything prepared to leave the Coast in a short time to join the New Zealand Air Force was the misfortune of Mr. D. N. Wilkins, aged 18, a motor mechanic, at 6.15 p.m. on Saturday in Tokomaru Bay. To-day the young man's condition was comfortable. The accident occurred in the township at the sharp corner opposite the Bank of New Zealand at the intersection of Beach road and Waimana street. The other vehicle'lnvolved in the collision was a light truck driven by Mr. J. B. Jefferd, a young man who had with him two passengers. None of the occupants of the truck was hurt, and the vehicle escaped serious damage. As soon as Mr. Jefferd noticed the plight of Mr. Wilkins he made him comfortable in the truck and took him to the Waiapu Hospital. Te Puia.
