COMMENT ON TREATY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Dec. 31. Commenting on the debate in the Egyptian Chamber of Deputies on the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty, The Times draws attention to the attack by Ismail Sidky Pasha on Article VII ol the treaty, which provides that, should either uf the high contracting parties become engaged in war, the other will immediately come tt> Us aid in the capacity of an ally "In this article SadXy Pasha descrioed ttic danger tnat Egypt would lu-we to take sides in a dispute that might not concern ner directly, and he insisted that the emergency clause tied Egypt's hands Instead of leaving her free to decide her own course of action on the merits of the case," states The Times. "This doctrine so surprisingly enunciated by one of the authors of the treaty in J 930 was not to the liking of the Chamber, and a subsequent motion expanding his criticism obtained onlv one vote."
