CONDITION OF THE ROADS
ADVICE FROM A.A. PATROL TO-DAY'S DISTRICT REPORT The highways north and south of Gisborne are extremely dusty in sections, according to the. latest reports received toy the resident AJV. patrol, Mr. D. M. McGregor. Some stretches of the roads have not stood up to the heavy traffic as well as others and are noticeably corrugated, especially that section between. Gisborne and Wairoa on the Morere route. The condition of the roads north and south of Gisborne is as follows: Gisborne-Opotiki, via Cape Runaway.—Surface good; water courses low, Raukokore River passable for heavy cars with experienced drivers without assistance; inexperienced drivers should be towed through, some having had difficulty while attempting the crossing under their own power. Gisborne-Opotiki, via Waioeka.— Good order; exercise care and do not •peed in gorge section. Gisborne-Opotiki, via Motu.—Surface fair; narrow winding road.
Gisborne-Wairoa, via Morere.—Good order to Nuhaka, beyond that the surface is badly corrugated.
Gisborne-Wairoa, via Tiniroto.—Reasonble travelling surface. "
Wairoa-Napier. Mohaka traffic bridge mow open; reconstruction Tangoio route also open to traffic; old settlement road advised in event of rain.
