SYDNEY, Jan. 1. At Randwick on Saturday the principal event, resulted: — Carringtoii Stakes, of £1000; G furlongs.— Delmestor, 8.18 (J. Davidson), 1; Early Bird, 8.2 (E. Bartle), 2; Grand Boy, 7.6 (A. Knox), 3.
Scratched: Gold Rod. In a well-contested race Delmestor, who was lying handy to the leaders throughout, won by a head from Early Bird, with Grand Boy a length and a half away, third. Time, 1.11. Highborn, Golden Treasure, Troy, rd . a oie were unplaced in the Denman Handicap.
Early Bird is trained by the ex-New Zealand trainer, J. T. Jamleson.
